Emergency Response Team Training

When the risks on site have a high adverse outcome rating, it is critical that core personnel have sufficient emergency management training to be able to safety and effectively respond to an unfolding incident.

Course Content

• Emergency Management Overview

• Effective Response Techniques and Tactics
• Equipment Review (Getting the best from your gear)
• Practical ERT Drills using equipment on site and Spill Station supplied equipment

Participant Prerequisites

• Use literacy and numeracy skills as required to read, interpret and apply guidelines and protocols
• Use literacy and numeracy skills to adequately interpret documentation available in line with State/Territory regulations, legislation and policies

Participants are required to be on time for all courses and bring a form of identification such as drivers licence or Medicare card for verification of details listed on the course enrolment form.

Trainer Requirements

• Training room
• Space for practical training and drills
• Access to current emergency response equipment

Information Requirements

In order to effectively present the course, Spill Station trainers require copies of the following prior to facilitating the training.

• Copy of Site’s Emergency Management Plan
• Copy of Chemical Manifest on-site
• Copy of current Emergency Equipment Register
• Copy of a previous training records (if applicable)

Assessment of knowledge will be conducted by use of a workbook and verbal questioning. Participants will also be required to demonstrate competence through a range of practical activities.

• Onsite face-to-face theory and practical training

Course Duration

• 8 hours

Group Size

• To ensure quality training and a safe learning environment, the maximum allowable group size is 12 participants.

Upon Successful Completion

• Statement of Attainment and wallet card issued to individual participants who successfully complete the requirements of the unit of competency and have a valid Unique Student Identifier (USI)
• A Nationally Recognised Training Summary for your Health and Safety Office compliance file
